Breakfast meeting on the Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action - One year after, a state of play
The International Disability and Development Consortium (IDDC), in partnership with Human Rights Watch and the European Disability Forum (EDF), is organisng a breakfast meeting at the European Parliament to mark the one-year anniversary of the Charter on the inclusion of persons with disabilities in humanitarian action. The breakfast meeting will be hosted by two Members of the European Parliament (MEP), Heidi Hautala and Enrique Guerrero Salom.
Members of the European Parliament, representatives of the European Commission and Member States, human rights and humanitarian stakeholders are invited to attend a breakfast meeting to discuss the role of the European Union and Member States in the implementation of the Charter on Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action.
The meeting marks the first anniversary of the Charter, launched at the 2016 World Humanitarian Summit. By now, the Charter has been endorsed by about 150 stakeholders, including the European Commission and several Member States, as well as UN agencies, NGOs and organisations representing persons with disabilities.
During the meeting, participants will learn more about the Charter, and ongoing or planned activities to make humanitarian action inclusive of persons with disabilities. The discussion will be nurtured by testimonies from the field.
