Because we fight – we hold the line

The General Assembly of the IDDC opened on March 26th in Berlin. Representative of 36 civil society organisations and organisations of persons with disabilities gathered for the opening of a 3-day meeting which will include a conference on funding disability inclusive international cooperation. More on this conference in another blog.

This year’s General Assembly is taking place against an international context that has dramatically changed since our last gathering. Cuts in Official Development Assistance and Foreign Aid, negative narrative towards Diversity, Equality and Inclusion and, the ever-shrinking space for civil society are setting the fight for human rights, and especially for disability rights, decades back.

Diversity, Equality and Inclusion will not DIE

As a network with a diverse membership, we recognize this diversity as a collective strength. We also recognize that now more than ever, that we need to continue to build on our collaborative approach and we also need take an intersectional approach and widen our collaboration and our solidarity.

Many hands can build and bring resilience

As a network, we have many hands-on deck that work together, a big thank you to our members commitments to advancing inclusion.
